INFORME PRELIMINAR DE INTELIGENCIA:

Caballeros, esta es la situación al 17.06.1953:

Debido a la sorpresiva aparición de los Panthers de la 2º de caza y ataque sobre el espacio aéreo de las Orcadas, los soviéticos han desembarcado una sola oleada de tropas, estimadas en un batallón.

El resto del GT se replegó a 50 mn al Norte, esperando reaprovisionarse de combustible y reconocer el área y se apresta a lanzar una segunda oleada, para tomar las islas.

El batallón desembarcado fue inmovilizado por efectivos de los Royal Marines y un grupo de pilotos del GAE aterrizados, que los contienen a los tiros, entre las rocas. Pero se estima que están agotando munición y serán masacrados en horas.

Se perdió contacto radial.

Por otra parte, la situación del campamento en Bahía Brown sigue siendo crítica. Están aislados. Los 20 infantes dstacados allí informaron hace unas horas que tienen raciones hasta mañana. Les recuerdo que las temperaturas son bajo cero y nieva con fuertes vientos.

La FT británica se encuentra en una proporción de 1 a 10 en relación a la soviética. El contingente que partió hace días desde Europa aún no llega a Ascensión.

Sin embargo, a riesgo de ser hundido, el HMS Illustrious y su GT -originariamente al N. de las Malvinas, ver mapas "AS 1"-, se han adentrado en el Pasaje de Drake (posición a 180º al sur de Ushuaia, mitad de camino con las Orcadas), para intentar un ataque aéreo sobre el GT soviético, con Fairey Firefly y Sea Fury.

Los objetivos de nuestras próximas órdenes fragmentarias serán:

1.- atacar la cabecera de playa soviética en la Isla Coronación y naves que intenten desembarcar. Prestar atención al mapa que se suministrará sobre las posiciones.

2.- A todo evento, si resultare imposible repeler a los invasores, evacuar a los Marines, y llevarlos a Isla Laurie.

3.- Evacuar a nuestros pilotos aterrizados en Isla Cononación. Se estima que han podido repostar un 10 % de sus tanques con los tambores allí almacenados y podrán llegar al HMS Illustrious, para emprender nueva misión; pero si no es así, debemos sacarlos de allí y destruir a esos Panthers en tierra antes de que caigan en manos del enemigo.

3.- Reabastecer el campamento de Bahía Brown.

4.- Atacar conjuntamente con el Fleet Air Arm de la Royal Navy al GT soviético, más al Norte de Isla Coronación. Tenemos mejores medios aéreos que ellos, los destrozarán si no vamos a poner el hombro.

5.- Proteger a la FT británica, completamente expuesta a ataques de submarinos.

Prestar atención al briefing que será efectuado.

1.- Atacar cabecera de playa en Orcadas.
2.- Atacar en conjuno con aviación naval británica embarcada a bordo de HMS Illustrious, el GT soviético al N. de las Orcadas. Posición estimada, 20 a 50 km línea recta hacia el N..
3.- Aprovisionar campamento Bahía Brown y rescatar tropas de Isla Coronación, para depositarlas en Bahía Brown.

Salen los 3 Panthers con e combustible que pudieron cargar, para repostar en ortaaviones británico y proseguir con misión.

F9F2 Panther - 100% Fuel + Tanques - Default

Despego del Illustrius como líder de la escuadra de caza con Alma, Castor, Ceteu y Chape.
Pongo rumbo 109º, luego de un largo viaje llegamos justo a las Orcadas, observo intenso intercambio de fuego en tierra al Oeste de la pista.
Llevo la escuadra con rumbo 0º a los efectos de buscar la FT rusa, a unos 50 Km los encontramos logrando observar 4 navíos grandes y otros 7 lanchones de desembarco.
Volvemos a la vertical de las Orcadas, cuando inicio un giro por izquierda observo entre las nubes 4 contactos que se me vienen encima desde el Este resultando ser biplanos rusos, doy luz verde para atacar ya que se nos lanzan en actitud de combate, uno a uno van siendo derribados por la escuadra, hago lo propio con uno que enganché hacia el sur.
Limpio el cielo de enemigos el 21 me informa que fue alcanzado por la AAA y lo autorizo a aterrizar en la pista en construcción, lo mismo ocurre con Ceteu.
Continuamos la CAP y llegando a 4000 libras de combustible ordeno poner rumbo hacia el "Fuji" que se encuentra anclado al oeste de Orcadas.
Avistado el mismo ordeno virar a rumbo 0º y a los pocos minutos encontramos la flota, entro en inicial, luego final, llego un poco cruzado y demasiado alto, al tocar rompo el ala izquierda y la rueda de ese mismo lado, un poco asustado - casi caigo por la borda - me bajo del avión maldiciendo mi torpeza.

PBY Catalina. 100% combustible. Transporte de pertrechos y evacuación.

Decolamos desde la Bahía en Ushuaia en formación de 2 aparatos, con Tehuelche, para reunirnos con un Short Sunderland de la Royal Navy, que nos precedía. Debimos llevar pertrechos al sufrido campamento de Bahía Brown.

Emprendido el vuelo, con rumbo 090, por el canal de Beagle, vimos que el Short acuatizó, quizás por problemas mecánicos y continuamos el vuelo nosotros solos.

Al Este de la Isla de Los Estados, pusimos rumbo 180º y contamos, a 270 km/h constantes, 44? 44?? de navegación hasta el siguiente punto. Luego, viramos a babor, poniendo rumbo 090º y cumplimos el tercer tramo del vuelo, calculado con precisión en 30?, hasta el extremo E de la Isla Laurie. Allí efectuamos la aproximación final desde el sur y acuatizamos. En el campamento descargamos los pertrechos y luego recuperamos a los heridos y marines en retirada. El regreso estaba previsto con rumbo directo 120º, pero nos excedimos de tiempo reglamentario.

Despego con Popeye volando rumbo 90° hasta isla de los estados luego tomamos rumbo 180° para luego tomar rumbo 90° y mantener hasta llegar a las posiciones inglesas para poder enviar suministros y luego rescatar a los Royal Marines.

Despegamos y ponemos rumbo, Minos queda en tierra por problemas mecánicos.
Navegamos sin problemas hacia las orcadas, una ves que las tenemos en visual iniciamos las pasadas.
Entran primero los objetivos el Nº1 y 2. Luego de destruir varios objetivos, se accidentan. Hago mi primer pasada y logro destruir algunos infantes y vehículos de desembarco, pero me destruyen la mira.
Con el tanque pinchado intento hacer una ultima pasada con cohetes sin mira, no logro destruir el blanco y tampoco subir el morro del avión. Me estrello a pocos metros del enemigo.

Se me ordena operar desde Ushuaia. Despego como elemento N°6 de caza posterior a 2 Neptunes y me dirijo rápidamente a reunirme con el grupo sobre la flota.
Pepper (N°1) realiza una estupenda navegación hasta las Orcadas donde nos encontramos con varias lanchas de desembarco en combate desde la misma playa.
Nos dirigimos hacia el norte y vemos otro grupo de desembarco compuesto de 4 barcos grandes y 7 chicos (ambos de desembarco). Avisamos a los ingleses y nos dirigimos nuevamente a la isla. Merodeando sobre la misma, vemos 4 biplanos algo más altos que nosotros, que al intentar reconocerlos, se le tiran encima a nuestro líder.
Liberamos los seguros de las armas y los despachamos rápidamente.
Acto seguido esperamos el arribo de los bombarderos, mientras que Chape debe realizar un aterrizaje de emergencia debido a daños de la AAA, y Ceteu le advierto que larga humo en exceso.
Críticos de combustible, emprendemos el regreso, donde luego de otra precisa navegación de Pepper, nos deja en procedimiento de aterrizaje.
Al aterrizar N°1, advierte la corta pista, entrando como N°2 hago una entrada más baja de lo normal, para agarrar los primeros cables, pero desciendo más de la cuenta y al intentar recuperar no me queda tiempo e impacto contra la estructura del buque.

_Vale pensar el origen de los biplanos, ya que los rusos carecen de portaaviones (que sepamos al menos) y no hay pistas en tierra cercanas como para que operen.

Neptune - 80% jugo - 6x500lb + 16hvar
Decolamos desde Ushuaia liderando la formación, junto a Cuervo, Minos y Gaucho.
En rumbo directo 124° arribamos a Orcadas tras una navegación de aprox 50 min.
Al llegar a la zona destruimos lo poco que podemos en las cabeceras ya que el blanco era muy pequeño y la aeronave muy grande y poco maniobrable.
Un impacto directo me hace explotar.
